I approached the Sabbath theme from two perspectives. The series of
three paintings titled "Sonambulo" explore the lack of rest in God
through the depiction of sleepwalkers. These sleepwalkers portray the
restlessness that believers experience when their minds, hearts and
hands don't rely on or rest in the deep peace that is freely and
openly available to those who have been transformed through a
relationship with Christ. The second set of three paintings entitled
"Garden" explore the idea that the deep rest that is available through
the Holy Spirit living in believers is comparable to Eden. In a sense,
Eden is within believers' minds, hearts and spirits. These paintings
explore that deep rest and renewal that is available to those who are
in communion with God.
