Derek and his wife Kathryn are settled again on Delaware Street in Indianapolis where they remain active participants in the Open Hand International Christian Community. They are expecting their first child at the end of 2006. Derek is working as an Instructional Designer at Clarian Health (a hospital chain that includes Methodist, IU and Riley Hospitals). Derek continues to paint and create artwork in his spare time.

There was no need for justice in The Garden. Justice is just one of the ways that God responds to this world. I was working with the visual metaphors of bulls and doves to portray the manner in which justice is rendered. The bull represents the strong, unrelenting power of character necessary to deliver justice; the dove, on the other hand, is the graceful, loving side of it. True justice is always a combination of strength and grace.
